Moved from main

[edit]

I've moved the whole section from the Chavez page to replace the text here. It was too large on that page anyway, and can now be trimmed.--Zleitzen 11:52, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not in the speech

[edit]

From the article:"Regarding his remarks, such as his reference to Bush as an "alcoholic", Chavez responded...". This is missleading. Chavez did not call Bush an alcoholic in that speech. That's why the full text of the speech has been added to the article, as proof.--tequendamia 14:54, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think putting the speech text in WP is not a good idea as anybody can edit it, better use an external RS. -- JRSP 17:18, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In consideration

[edit]

That a large part of the people that voted for president Bush (christian base) actually believes that the devil exists, and in a country in wich its leader fights an "axis of evil". Could it be sayd that Chavez's remarks were perhaps thought beyond simple name-calling?. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 201.215.169.90 (talkcontribs) 07:56, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

bias

[edit]

There should be some quotes supporting Chavez to balance it out —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.108.168.106 (talkcontribs) 19:42, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Biased

[edit]

This article is clearly anti-Chávez. Throw in some support for him, you make him sound like a petulant child. Also, if you want to quote the speech, there are better quotes to indicate the gist of the address. I'll add them if you like. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Samrules999 (talkcontribs) 11:23, 10 April 2007 (UTC). Could you please give an example of how this article is anti-Chavez? The only anti-Chavez statements I see are the quotes provided. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Canutethegreat (talkcontribs) 22:42, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article's title

[edit]

Are reliable sources naming the speech "The devil has been here" ? I think the article must be reverted to the original title "2006 Chávez speech at the UN". JRSP 19:59, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The UN site gives the speech no such title. ~MDD4696 20:11, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, Chavez's speech isn't titled "The devil has been here" anywhere.-- Zleitzen(talk) 01:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't the name of the aritcle be "Chavez speech at the United Nations, 2006"? For example, he may make or has made other speeches at the United Nations and this may be confusing. Also, I don't think we should abbreviate in article titles.--Thomas.macmillan 20:12, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps "Hugo Chávez speech at the United Nations, 2006"? There could be other Chavezes also. JRSP 21:35, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very true. I'd support that name.--Thomas.macmillan 22:32, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Does anyone oppose a move to Hugo Chavez speech at the United Nations, 2006? If no one responds in a day or two, I will move the article and fix the redirects.--Thomas.macmillan 22:49, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem with th move but a more precise title could be "Hugo Chávez speech at the United Nations General Assembly, 2006" but this one may be too long. In any case, don't forget the acute on "Chávez" (but there should be a redirect with no diacritics). JRSP 23:17, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
